Rachna Garodia’s weaved and embroidered pieces invite the viewer to visually connect with the natural world. Rachna finds organic materials such as twigs, bark, paper and seed pods and collages them with contrasting man-made materials like silk, cotton, line and wool. By observing nature, Rachna aims to bring the outside in with her work.
Rachna says, 'I love the juxtaposition of hand-crafted materials with natures finds, bringing all the feeling and spirit that nature so freely gives to all of us into the work... When I moved to London, I was amazed by the different flora fauna I found, so I would walk around with my tree spotting and wildflower guides. I loved connecting with my surroundings.' Her work continues to echo her memories of life in India with the experience of living in London.
Rachna studied at the National Institute of Design before going to The Royal School of Needlework in London, now working in her studio in South London. She has private collections in London, India & the USA.
