Jo Evans’ pieces are minimalist and abstract while remaining meticulously designed. Fascinated with the ‘traditionally female’ methods of creation, Jo hand stitches her quilts to show a modern approach to the tradition, with her fabric collection as her paint box. Jo Evans favours a minimal colour palette and natural materials such as linen, hemp and silk.
Jo says, 'I believe that art born of textiles has as much to give as a painting – you can feel its depth, its softness. Fabric has been on a journey and feels full of soul long before it has fulfilled its potential and l love that about this medium.'
Jo Evans has worked largely in creative sectors including archestecture, music, theatre and design and while self-taught has a clear perception for aesthetic. Jo exhibits internationally and has work in private collections in the UK, France and USA.
